Tips for use and care of your Cling On!
Tip No 1
Important! DO NOT remove the strings at the base of the round and oval brushes. This helps the brush keep its shape.
Let your CLING ON! absorb some water before using it for the first time, so it gets the proper flex soak the bristles in water for approx 20 minutes before first use. Remove excess water by spinning the handle between your hands and it's ready for use.
Tip No 2
Don't dip the full length of bristles into your paint....halfway is plenty! Get your paint on quickly then holding your brush at a 45 degree angle use just the tips of your Cling On and almost zero pressure to 'lay' your paint all in the one direction. Then step away and leave your paint to level. Overbrushing paint as it starts to dry adds texture & results in brush strokes! Between coats you can wrap your Cling On in some plastic wrap (gladwrap) or tin foil. While painting, re-wet the brush if necessary. Keeping the brush damp will prevent paint from hardening on the bristles and minimize brush strokes.
Tip No 3.
When you're done painting give your Cling On a quick rinse the excess paint from your brush under running water then sit your Cling On in a glass or jar with water halfway up the bristles and watch the paint just wick away! Once clean just stand it in a container keeping the tips in water (preferably hanging so the tips are not touching the bottom). When it's time to use it again just rinse, spin out the remaining water and you're ready to paint again or store the brush. Refresh water weekly
Ideally, Cling Ons should be stored in a small jar of water which does not come up to the silver plating. You could use a brush keeper, or similar device (empty pop-up wipes container with a few inches of water, even a large plastic soda cup with the brush handle pushed up through the straw opening) that allows the bristles to hang in the water, without touching the bottom.
If you won't be painting for a while wash your brush well with a quality brush soap (Pureco Lemon Myrtle Cleaner) and hang to dry before storing.
Tip No 4
Cling On's are addictive! One is never enough!
